Client: Kaufman and Broad, France
Article Abstract:
Gensler and Associates Architects won the commission for the Atlantique Montparnasse lobby project thorugh a competition sponsored by Kaufman and Broad, France. Kaufman required a design that integrated spaciousness, light and color and had an impact on the public, which French designs lack. Gensler discovered that architecture was separated into design and construction in France and that contractors and subcontractors have greater participation in design-related work and decision-making. However, these posed no problems and design alterations to meet French standards were minimal.

Nerima Kings Garden
Article Abstract:
Nerima Kings Garden is a new 58-bed skilled nursing, adult day care center in Tokyo, Japan, with an exceptionally designed interior. Similar Japanese facilities look dull and are built with no regard for functional requirements. Architectural firm Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum developed a floor plan that would give residents a lot of privacy and space. Found on the first floor is a 20-person day care and rehabilitation facility with communal living and dining rooms. The second and third floors have 25 beds each with living and dining spaces located near the entry lobbies.
