Cool sports
Article Abstract:
Nike Town, Nike's newest retail outlet in Chicago, IL, derived its design from a town concept, with the product pavilions and circulation areas representing the stores and streets, respectively. The use of dominant gray and white interior colors serve as a perfect foil for the brightly colored pavilions and illuminated memorabilia and displays. The three-story atrium creates a sense of space and a continuous vista of three retail area levels. The design team's coordination of the Nike store's business and architectural aspects results in an innovative and unique Nike Town concept.

Stone, steel and style
Article Abstract:
Multi-national knitwear company Assets London chose Jean-Jacques Ferron to design their New York showroom because his minimalist ideas echoed their environmentalist ideals in manufacturing and marketing. Ferron used an environmental design concept which interplayed natural design elements such as light, water, sandblasted glass and stone. His combination of materials and textures resulted in an interior space with a natural ambience and a sense of space.
