Project Picasso focused on the content of the newspaper making it reader focused, reader targeted and reader friendly with added emphasis on the visual display of the content. Redesigning was carried out by constantly reevaluating the things making it more functional, navigable and accessible.

The next revolution: readers, not designers
Article Abstract:
Newspaper graphic design innovations became common during the 1980s, but by the 1990s readers saw these efforts as only equivalent to television and magazines rather than superior. Design standards need to continue to be high, but the new emphasis needs to be on content.

The Eufaula Tribune, a twice-weekly paper in southeast Alabama, redesigned the publication with increased readability in mind. Changes included more powerful typography, judicious use of color, a new nameplate, and reorganized content.
