Article Abstract:
School of American Ballet which was meant exclusively for girls, put into action George Balanchine's idea of starting classes for boys, by enrolling 25 boys in its first batch in the year 1991. The chairman and two teachers of the school discuss the impetus of the boy's program, the new energy it brings to the school, the evolution of its structure, and the opportunities of the future.

Graham's season

The article recounts the history of Martha Graham's performances, beginning in 1929, and the many productions in 2003 by the dance company she founded. Programs at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Graham's continuing influence, and modern restaging of her works are discussed.

The careful choice of repertory at City Center has provided a number of Martha Graham works that clearly illustrate her prominence in twentieth-century American dance. The special features included Primitive Mysteries, Deaths and Entrances, Appalachian Spring and Errand into the Maze.
