Article Abstract:
Michael Christensen, the Director of the Royal Theater, welcomed speakers and guests gathered at the August Bournonville Symposium on August 18 and 19, 2005 to treasure and guard Bournonville's ballet and its tradition. Bournonville is one of the founding fathers of the Royal Theater and was an outstanding cultural personality throughout a major part of the 19th century, who used history, tales, and myth to tell stories about eternal human relations and problems.

Frank Andersen, Director of the Royal Danish Ballet, welcomes attendees at the August Bournonville Symposium, 'Wanted: Bournonville, Dead or Alive -- Bournonville Past, Present, and Future' held on August 18 and 19, 2005. Andersen states that the symposium highlights Bournonville's life, his ballets, his tradition and style, but from a new and future-minded perspective.
