The BMW Steptronic is a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive, 2+2-passenger, two-door coupe. The Steptronic is another in BMW's series of manumatic transmissions, which allows the driver to change gears without the use of a clutch. Base price for the more expensive 850Ci is $102,981.

Assessments are presented of five cars featuring automatic transmissions with some type of manual capability: Audi A4, BMW 840Ci, Dodge Stratus ES, Honda Prelude, Porsche Boxster and Toyota Supra. The Dodge and Honda models have the simplest and least costly transmissions.
