Ford Escape Hybrid: Billy Ford makes the first payment on a brash promise-fuel-sipping SUVs
Article Abstract:
A test drive on Ford Escape Hybrid shows that Ford has combined the motor, the generator, and the brain module into a much tighter package to keep its pledge to lift the fuel economy of its SUV fleet by 25 percent by the year 2005. The engine's 133 hp supplemented by the 94-hp electric motor gives similar performance to V-6 Escape, and Ford can propel itself with battery or gas engine or both together and comes at the right moment when the fuel price is increasing.
