High-tech, low-spec Supra for the Japanese

The Japanese version of the Toyota Supra Turbo sports car has 40 horsepower less than the US model and 50 less than the European model. This is in keeping with the unwritten agreement between the industry and the government that no locally-consumed Japanese car will exceed 280 horsepower.

Mitsubishi and Subaru have both come out with high-performance subcompacts for the Japanese car market. Mitsubishi's Lancer Evolution III and the Subaru Impreza Sti are very fast cars which are similar only in appearance to their stock counterparts.
