Toyota Corolla XRS: Boy racer in prep-school shorts
Article Abstract:
Toyota's Corolla XRS, a front engine, front-wheel-drive with DOHC 16-valve inline-4, aluminum block and head with six speed transmission schedule and 170 hp at 7600 rpm and torque of 127lb-ft at 4400 rpm, is road tested. XRS is the first ever sub-eight-second 0-60 mph Corolla, attained the quarter mile in 15.8 seconds, has the higher-rate-shocks and springs, a stiffened steering column, a half-inch lower ride height, and 16 inch wheels and tires.
