A degree of hope
Article Abstract:
More and more creditors are offering debtor education and credit rehabilitation programs to mitigate losses associated with bankruptcy. Ad hoc creditor groups have developed such programs in conjunction with interested Chapter 13 trustees and debtor bars to give Chapter 13 debtors the opportunity to obtain new loans in reasonable amounts for reasonable purposes. Debtors have to complete high-pay Chapter 13 programs and a plan that teaches them the basics of finance and financial management. The trustee, meanwhile, acts on the creditor's behalf to analyze the debtor's financial condition and decide whether a proposed repayment scheme is fair to the creditor and attainable by the debtor. Debtor education programs, combined with disciplined repayment plans, have been proven effective for both lenders and borrowers.

Bankruptcy - we can do something about it
Article Abstract:
Two member organizations of the International Credit Assn in Louisville, KY and Denver, CO warn their communities that bankruptcy is not the only option in serious financial crises. The Kentuckiana Consumer Credit Assn sponsors two television ads to this effect. Both ads refer consumers to a local consumer credit agency. The Metro Denver Credit Assn has an anti-bankruptcy campaign with television spots, newspaper ads, and fliers in the billings of a local bank, finance company, credit union, and department store.

Credit: as simple as a wheel
Article Abstract:
Credit management is not as difficult as it seems. One of the most important things to know is that a good credit record usually means trouble-free loans. Consumers can assess their credit worthiness through regular check-ups of credit reports. People who have difficulties in understanding, correcting, or improving their credit records may seek the assistance of credit bureaus. Borrowing is part of the American way of life, and people should not be afraid to explore what it has to offer.
