When the former chief accountant for Le Meridien at Rialto in Melbourne, Australia was offered a position as financial controller of Le Meridien Port Vila in the Vanuatu islands, she ended up living on the Pacific island and working for an off-shore banking group. She believes that the CPA program gave her the necessary skills to adapt to her new career.

An Australian living in Canada considers the differences between the Canadian general sales tax (GST), implemented ten years ago, and the new Australian GST. The Canadians continue to add on GST at the till, and consumers are continually aware of the tax they are paying, whereas Australian GST is added in.
