Corporate ethics: more honest or more careful

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission is providing education and enforcement services to ensure that corporate directors act in an ethical manner. Greater emphasis on disclosure, accountability and risk management during the 1990s is a result of the excesses of the 1980s. Electronic enforcement will be utilized more often during the year 2000.

The Electronic Company Registration process of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission is faster and less costly than the old system. This new company registration process was introduced in May 1999. It takes less than 30 seconds to register a new company and receive the registration certificate.
