A mutational analysis of Dictyostelium discoideum multicellular development
Article Abstract:
Dictyostelium discoideum mutants that stop in development after aggregation but before first finger generation, were gathered to determine the genes responsible for cAMP and differentiation-inducing-factor-1 signalling, determining the size of an aggregate, cell sorting and morphogenetic movements. Findings indicated that some of the morphogenetic mutants have a cytoskeletal defect which inhibits first finger formation and that these mutants can be physically carried through development by the wild-type.

Ralstonia metallidurans CH34 RpoN sigma factor and the control of nitrogen metabolism and biphenyl utilization
Article Abstract:
The CH34 RpoN gene of Ralstonia metallidurans has been sequenced, as has the flanking DNA. A CH34 rpoN-deficient strain has been isolated. CH34 RNA polymerase sigma(super.54) was found to positively control autotrophy as well as nitrogen metabolism, with Tn4371-directed biphenyl utilization affected indirectly.

Motions caused by the growth of Bacillus Subtilis macrofibres in fluid medium result in new forms of movement of the multicellular structures over solid surfaces
Article Abstract:
Results point out that the macrofibre formation, mediated by helical growth forces, can also cause macrofibre motion. Data show that macrfibres are denser than the culture medium and they rotate about a vertical axis in a chiral-specific direction.
