A novel checkpoint mechanism regulating the G1/S transition
Article Abstract:
The mechanism of cell cycle delay in the G1 phase of chromatic binding in yeast cells in the S-phase entry is investigated. It was observed that the cell cycle delay functions as a novel checkpoint using a novel mechanism involving the Gen2 kinase, which regulates translation according to the nutrient supply.

Budding yeast Hed1 down-regulates the mitotic recombination machinery when meiotic recombination is impaired
Article Abstract:
A meiosis-specific protein (Hed1) with a novel Rad51 regulatory function is described. It is proposed that Hed1 protein provides a mechanism to ensure the coordinated action of Rad51 and Dmc1 during meiosis, by down-regulating Rad51 activity when Dmc1 is unavailable.
