Adhesion-aggregation and inactivation of Poliovirus 1 in groundwater stored in a hydrophobic container
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to define the relative importance of inactivation, adhesion, and aggregation phenomena in a reference system composed of groundwater (GW) Poliovirus 1, and a polypropylene container. Poliovirus 1 behavior in GW held in a polypropylene container demonstrated that both adhesion-aggregation and inactivation phenomena have a significant effect on loss of infectious Poliovirus 1.

Inactivation of poliovirus 1 and F-specific RNA phages and degradation of their genomes by UV irradiation at 254 nanometers
Article Abstract:
The four virus models (poliovirus 1 (PV1) and three F-specific RNA phages) are exposed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation in order to determine the viral genome degradation and the loss of infectivity. The extrapolation of inactivation and UV-induced RNA degradation kinetics has highlighted that genome degradation can be used to explain UV-induced viral inactivation.

Presence of viral genomes in mineral water: a sufficient condition to assume infectious risk?
Article Abstract:
Research shows that mineral water containing viral genome may not necessarily infectious as there is no correlation between the presence of viral genome and viral infectivity. However, detection of viral genome in the mineral water is an indication of its infectious risk but not adequate evidence for considering it as infectious.
