Assessment of the roles of LuxS, S-ribosyl homocysteine, and autoinducer 2 in cell attachment during biofilm formation by Listeria monocytogenes EGD-e
Article Abstract:
The system, which is functional in the gastrointestinal pathogen Listeria monocytogenes EGD-e, is determined and autoinducer 2 (AI-2) bioassay is performed with culture supernatants. The results show that Lux1 accumulates more S-adenosyl homocysteine (SAH) and S-ribosyl homocysteine (SRH) in culture supernatant than the parental strain acccumulates and that SRH, but not SAH or AI-2, is able to modify the number of attached cells.

Long-term survival of pathogenic and sanitation indicator bacteria in experimental biowaste composts
Article Abstract:
Experimental in-vessel biowaste composts are used to study the survival of seeded Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serotype Enteritidis, and Escherichia coli. Results suggest that like composted sewage sludge or manure, domestic waste composts might support pathogen survival and survival is not related to the physicochemical characteristics of the composts.

Distribution and characteristics of Listeria monocytogens isolates from surface waters of the South Nation River watershed, Ontario, Canada
Article Abstract:
The distribution and the characteristics of Listeria monocytogens isolates from surface waters obtained from the catchments within the South Nation River watershed, Ontario, Canada are studied. The results show that the species can be a hazard to the public health with respect to the agricultural land use.
