Bacterial succession in a petroleum land treatment unit
Article Abstract:
A study involving the observation of a few groups of bacteria to increase in abundance in response to oil contamination, is presented. The paucity of samples analyzed seems to have left gaps during the first 3 weeks, when the key events in bioremediation are known to occur.

Genetic analysis of two bile salt hydrolase activities in Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM
Article Abstract:
Two genes, bshA and bshB encoding bile salt hydrolase enzymes were identified in the genome sequence of Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM and characterized through target inactivation. The results demonstrate different substrate specificities for these two enzymes.

16S ribosomal DNA terminal restriction fragment pattern analysis of bacterial communities in feces of rats fed Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM
Article Abstract:
Researchers evaluate terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis for determining bacterial communities in feces. This technique can simplify the determination of fecal bacteria, which are too diverse and numerous for traditional analytic methods.
