Behavioral and physiological indices related to BMI in a cohort of primary schoolchildren in Greece
Article Abstract:
A study was done to analyze the differences between normal weight and overweight primary schoolchildren in terms of certain cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors and to identify behavioral correlates significantly affecting their body mass index (BMI) is reported. The results of the study suggests that even in childhood, overweight and obesity are indicative of an unfavorable lipidemic profile and among the significant behavioral parameters known to affect BMI were organized physical activities, cardiorespiratory fitness, TV time, but not energy or fat intake.

Biocultural construction of obesogenic ecologies of childhood: Parent-feeding versus child-eating strategies
Article Abstract:
Cognitive methods such as consensus analysis is used to determine how parental cultural models of child eating and feeding are linked to high calorie, obesogenic child diets using the case of 3- to 6-year-old children in a rural Southeaster US community with very high obesity rates. The aim is on how primary-caregiver manifest in children's over-nourishment, particularly as they help to structure high caloric intake.

Biocultural aspects of obesity in young Mexican schoolchildren
Article Abstract:
Obesity related to over-nutrition in a sample of 219 Mexican children from affluent families and ages 6-12 years is investigated. Increasing rates of child obesity in Mexico is due to changes in dietary structure from a traditional diet richer in fiber and grains to higher fat foods and major changes in leisure-time activity patterns.
