Breed relationships and definition in British cattle: A genetic analysis
Article Abstract:
The genetic diversity of eight British cattle breeds is quantified by using thirty microsatellites to characterise the DNA samples from nearly Four Hundred individuals. Analyses defined the cohesiveness or definition of the various breeds with Highland, Guernsey and Jersey as the best defined and most distinctive of the breeds.

Genetic structure of European sheep breeds
Article Abstract:
The genetic structure and the genetic diversity observed in the European sheep breeds are explained. The geography and augmenting management are found to be the main factors affecting the genetic differentiation among different breeds.

Population genetic structure of and inbreeding in an insular cattle breed, the Jersey, and its implications for genetic resource management
Article Abstract:
A large-scale genetic analysis of the Jersey cattle was conducted using samples from the UK Channel Island of Jersey. The study revealed that it was necessary to import unrelated genetic material to the island for management purposes.
