Cloning, expression and nucleotide sequence of lipase gene from Pseudomonas fluorescens B52
Article Abstract:
A lipase gene from Pseudomonas flourescens B52 was cloned and sequenced by the dideoxy nucleotide chain termination method. P. fluorescens is a psychotrophic bacterium causing dairy spoilage. Sequence analysis revealed an open reading frame of 1,428 nucleotides encoding a proteinof 476 amino acids with a molecular weight of 50,241. Analysis of the amino acid sequence showed the presence of a putative substrate-binding site common to all previously sequenced lipases. However, the rest of the residues showed few similarities to those of other Pseudomonas species.

Effect of phosphate limitation on synthesis of periplasmic cyclic beta-(1,2)-glucans
Article Abstract:
Analysis of the influence of phosphate limitation on the synthesis of periplasmic cyclic beta-(1,2)-glucans by Rhizobium meliloti and Agrobacterium tumefaciens reveals that phosphate limitation leads to significant reduction in the level of phosphoglycerol substituents in the periplasmic cyclic beta-(1,2)-glucans. R. meliloti produces anionic cyclic beta-(1,2)-glucans having high levels of succinic acid substituents. Neutral cyclic beta-(1,2)-glucans are produced by A. tumefaciens C58.

Synthesis of a low-molecular-weight form of exopolysaccharide by Bradyrhizobium japonicum USDA 110
Article Abstract:
Bradyrhizobium japonicum produces a low-molecular-weight form of exopolysaccharide that consists of a dimer of the pentasaccharide repeating unit. These carbohydrates may be involved in osmotic adaptation.
