Competitive metagenomic DNA hybridization identifies host-specific microbial genetic markers in cow fecal samples
Article Abstract:
The application of a genome fragment enrichment (GFE) method is described to identify host-specific genetic markers from fecal microbial community DNA. The data demonstrate that direct metagenomic DNA genomic analysis by the competitive solution hybridization approach is an efficient method for identifying potentially useful fecal genetic markers and for characterizing differences between environmental microbial communities.

Old yellow enzymes protect against acrolein toxicity in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Article Abstract:
The complete set of viable deletion strains in Saccharomyces cerevisiae is screened for sensitivity to acrolein for identifying cell functions involved in resistance to reactive aldehydes. It is shown that old yellow enzyme 2 (Oye 2) which is a widely conserved NADPH-dependent oxidoreductase protects against acrolein toxicity in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Application of genome-wide expression analysis to identify molecular markers useful in monitoring industrial fermentations
Article Abstract:
Molecular markers useful in monitoring industrial fermentations specifically for conditions of zinc deficiency are identified. The results indicate that these sequences may be valuable molecule markers for detecting zinc deficiency in industrial fermentations.
