Improved succinic acid production in the anaerobic culture of an Escherichia coli pflB ldhA double mutant as a result of enhanced anaplerotic activities in the preceding aerobic culture
Article Abstract:
Two-stage culture of Escherichia coli NZN111 is carried out for the production of succinic acid. The results have shown that the high efficiency of succinic acid production has resulted from increased anaplerotic activities that have made regeneration of [NAD.sup.+] from NADH possible.

Use of the tna operon as a new molecular target for Escherichia coli detection
Article Abstract:
A quantitative real time PCR was developed to detect pathogenic and nonpathogenic strains of Escherichia coli differentiating them from Shigella spp. Results concluded that Shigella pathotype originated from Escherichia coli ancestors.
