Development of a fluorogenic 5' nuclease PCR assay for detection of the ail gene of pathogenic yersinia enterocolitica
Article Abstract:
A fluorogenic PCR assay for the detection of pathogenic Yersinia enterocolitica is described. Data demonstrate the use of primers and probes in the amplification of ail gene regions and testing ground pork and feces samples for the pathogen identification.

Rapid 5' nuclease (TaqMan) assay for detection of virulent strains of Yersinia enterocolitica
Article Abstract:
Research describes the development of chromosomal yst gene-based assay combined with fluorogenic 5' nuclease technique for the detection of pathogenic Yersinia enterocolitica in ground pork. Results show that the assay is 100% specific for Y. enterocolitica with a sensitivity of 2 to 3 orders of magnitude per CFU per milliliter.

Prevalence of pathogenic Yersinia enterocolitica strains in pigs in the United States
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to determine the prevalence of pathogenic Yersinia enterocolitica in pigs in the US using feces as the sample source. The results support the hypothesis that swine are a reservoir for Yersinia enterocolitica strains potentially pathogenic for humans.
