Differentiation of Erwinia amylovora strains by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis
Article Abstract:
Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis was used to determine the banding patterns of DNA from different strains of Erwinia amylovora to investigate the suitability of this technique in strain differentiation in this species. Results reveal significant differences in the banding patterns of the strains under investigation. Restriction fragment length polymorphism as determined by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis can be an effective tool in grouping determination in the different strains of E. amylovora.

NorM an erwinia amylovora multidrug efflux pump involved in invitro competition with other epiphytic bacteria
Article Abstract:
Erwinia amylovora uses blossoms, which are important sites for infection, as the main route for infection with natural openings or wounds to gain entry into a plant. A NorM mutant was created to study the effects of promoter activity and it was found that E. amylovora could use NorM for successful competition with other epiphytic microbes to enter high population densities.
