Diverse AvrPtoB homologs from several Pseudomonas syringae pathovars elicit pto-dependent resistance and have similar virulence activities
Article Abstract:
The characterization of avrPtoB homologs from Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato T1, PT23, and JL1065, P. syringae pv. syringae B728a, and P. syringae pv. maculicola ES4326 is described. It is observed that AvrPtoB homologs from diverse P. syringae pathovers have conserved avirulence and virulence activities similar to AvrPtoB activity, in spite of divergent sequences.

Colonization of tomato root by pathogenic and nonpathogenic Fusarium oxysporum strains inoculated together and separately into the soil
Article Abstract:
Confocal laser scanning microscopy was used to visualize the colonization of tomato roots in heat treated soil, to observe the interactions between nonpathogenic strain Fo47, and a pathogenic strain Fo18. When inoculated separately both fungi colonized the entire root surface, and when both strains were introduced together they colonized root surface.

The tomato rhizosphere, an environment rich in nitrogen-fixing burkholderia species with capabilities of interest for agriculture and bioremediation
Article Abstract:
The occurrence of [N.sub.2]-fixing Burkholderia species in the rhizospheres and rhizoplanes of tomato plants field grown in Mexico is assessed. The results reveals a high level of diversity of diazotrophic Burkholderia species.
