Effect of immersion solutions containing enterocin AS-48 on Listeria monocytogenes in vegetable foods
Article Abstract:
The effect of immersion solutions containing enterocin AS-48 alone in combination with chemical preservatives on survival and proliferation of Listeria monocytogenes CECT 4032 inoculated on fresh alfalfa sprouts, soybean sprouts and green asparagus is investigated. Significant increases of antimicrobial activity are detected for AS-48 plus potassium permanganate and in some combinations with acetic acid, citric acid, sodium propionate, and potassium sorbate.

Characterization of antimicrobial substances produced by enterococcus faecalis MRR 10-3, isolated from the uropygial gland of the hoopoe (Upupa epops)
Article Abstract:
A bacterium is isolated from uropygial secretion of a nestling that grows in monospecific culture and then identified unambiguously by phenotypic and genotypic means. The spectrum of activity, structure, and genetics of the antimicrobial substance produced by the strain is characterized.
