Effects of culture conditions on microorganism identification by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry
Article Abstract:
The results of matrix-assisted desorption ionization-time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) signatures and automated data analysis and identification for Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, and Yersinia enterocolitica cultured in four different media are described. The advantage of the automated data analysis approach is the visible differences, primarily in the relative intensity of the ions.

DNA microarray-based identification of serogroups and virulence gene patterns of Escherichia coli isolates associated with porcine postweaning diarrhea and edema disease
Article Abstract:
Different Escherichia coli serogroups and 11 genes encoding adhesion factors associated with postweaning diarrhea (PWD) and edema disease (ED) is developed for the identification of related serogroups and virulence gene patterns. The resulted output can be readily used to screen the presence of PWD and ED associated Escherichia coli in porcine feces samples.

LambdaSa1 and LambdaSa2 prophage lysins of Streptococcus agalactiae
Article Abstract:
Putative N-acetylmuramyl-L-alanine amidase genes obtained from LambdaSa1 and LambdaSa2 prophages of Streptococcus agalactiae are cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. The structure of the muropeptide digestion fragments has shown that both the LambdaSa1 and LambdaSa2 lysins have displayed [gamma]-D-glutaminyl-L-lysine endopeptidase activity.
