Evidence for a rare prostate cancer-susceptibility locus at chromosome 1p36
Article Abstract:
A potential hereditary prostate cancer (PC) susceptibility locus has been shown to be on chromosome 1p36. Data from a genomic screen in 70 families with high risk for PC was combined with data from candidate-region mapping in the families and another 71 families. A significant fraction of the families with a high risk for PC and a family member with brain cancer (BC) have linkage at the 1p36 region. Cases of primary brain cancer often are seen in higher number in some families with high PC risk. Loss of heterozygosity at 1p36 is often seen in BC.

In Swedish families with hereditary prostate cancer, linkage to the HPC1 (ital) locus on chromosome 1q24-25 is restricted to families with early-onset prostate cancer
Article Abstract:
Hereditary prostate cancer (HPC) has been linked to the HPC1 (ital) locus on chromosome 1q24-25 in Swedish families studied and linkage is only in families with early-onset prostate cancer. Twelve previously identified and 28 newly identified HPC Swedish families have been studied. Evidence of linkage existed for 40 markers over a 25-cM interval in 1q24-25. The evidence of linkage is almost all from the subset of 12 early-onset, that is, before-age-65, families.

Predisposing gene for early-onset prostate cancer, localized on chromosome 1q42.2-43
Article Abstract:
The predisposing gene for early-onset prostate cancer, which makes up 10% or more of all prostate cancers, has been localized on chromosome 1q42.2-43 through use of a genomewide search on 47 German and French families and parametric/nonparametric linkage analysis. Several markers were involved in the primary localization, for which three genetic models were used.
