Evolution of cis-regulatory sequence and function in Diptera
Article Abstract:
The comparative studies of gene regulation among Diptera are examined and properties of regulatory systems that allow cis-regulatory sequences and function to evolve at different rates are discussed. An examination of the computation approaches for identifying cis-regulatory regions reveal that additional biochemical, genetic, and transgenic studies are needed to improve computational tools used for identifying such regions.

Insulators are fundamental components of the eukaryotic genomes
Article Abstract:
The studies designed to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of the insulator function are reviewed and an overview of the critical role of insulators in nuclear organization and functional identity of chromatin is provided. It is found that insulators have ability to block enhancer-promoter communication and prevent the spread of repressive chromatin.
