Expression of the p20 gene from Bacillus thuringiensis H-14 increases Cry11A toxin production and enhances mosquito-larvicidal activity in recombinant gram-negative bacteria
Article Abstract:
Researchers show that the P20 protein from Bacillus thuringiensis interacts with the Cry11A protein, making it more toxic to mosquito larvae. This was confirmed in Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas putida that had been genetically engineered to produce both proteins.

Conjugal transfer of a toxin-coding megaplasmid from Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. israelensis to mosquitocidal strains of Bacillus sphaericus
Article Abstract:
Both Bacillus sphaericus and Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. israelensis produce mosquitocidal toxins during sporulation that are extensively used in the field for control of mosquito populations. The resulting transconjugant bacteria were significantly more toxic to Aedes aegypti mosquitoes and were able to overcome resistance to B. sphaericus in resistant colony of culex quinquefasclatus, apparently due to the production of Cry11A but not Cry4A or Cry4B.

Characterization of strong promoters from an environmental Flavobacterium hibernum strain by using a green fluorescent protein-based reporter system
Article Abstract:
The genetic techniques, including cosmid complementation and transposon-mediated mutagenesis were used to identify several gld genes associated with gliding motility in Flavobacterium johnsoniae. The findings suggest that at least some promoter and ribosome binding site motifs of Flavobacterium strains are unusual within the bacterial domain.
