Morphologic, host specificity, and molecular characterization of a Hungarian Cryptosporidium meleagridis isolate
Article Abstract:
Results show that Cryptosporidium meleagridis is distinct from others in the family of coccidian parasites and is widely distributed with a broad host range. Data point out that birds are susceptible for these parasite.

Failure to differentiate Cryptosporidium parvum from C. meleagridis based on PCR amplification of eight DNA sequences
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the specificities of eight pairs of PCR assays for the detection of Cryptosporidium parvum, C muris, C baileyi andd C maleagridis. C parvum and C meleagridis could not be differentiated from each other despite being genetically similar at each of the eight loci analyzed by DNA amplification. Results suggest that caution should be practised in the interpretation of data from water sample analysis studied using the techniques.

Identification of Cryptosporidium felis in a cow by morphologic and molecular methods
Article Abstract:
A new infection caused by Cryptosporidium felis, aside from known infections with C muris and C parvum, was identfiied in a cow bred on the Bystra farm in northern Poland. The identfication was made on the basis of the size of the oocysts and analysis of the molecular sequence of the variable region of the small-subunit rRNA. This finding provides important insight into the complex host specificity and circulation in the environment of Cryptosporidium species.
