Genetic structure and relationships among steelhead trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) populations in British Columbia
Article Abstract:
Genetic structure and relationships have been studied in British Columbia steelhead trout populations. The study was to use microsatellite DNA variation to find the genetic structure of steelhead populations in eight tributaries and three watersheds. The one anomolous population had a much lower heterozygosity than expected based on the linear regression, and may thus be the population of greatest concern from the conservation perspective. Seven of the eight tributary population fit a regression line of mean heterozygosity vs rearing habitat area.

Fitness and microsatellite diversity estimates were not correlated in two outbred anuran populations
Article Abstract:
Larval fitness traits have been studied in two anuran species under uncontrolled laboratory conditions, and allelic diversity was measured in the same individuals at five and seven microsatellite loci. Fitness and microsatellite diversity estimates did not correlate in the two populations, which were outbred. The species were Bufo calamita and Rana temporaria, the common frog.
