Growth rate-dependent modulation of carbon flux through central metabolism and the kinetic consequences for glucose-limited chemostat cultures of Corynebacterium glutamicum
Article Abstract:
Carbon flux in the central metabolism of Corynebacterium glutamicum grown in glucose-limited chemostats is greater during the exponential growth phase than during the steady states. An increase in the growth rate diminishes glucose removal and the glucose transport becomes rate-limiting. The phospho-transferase system (PTS) is dependent on the growth rate. The PTS transports the Glucose during a steady state, while a permease system carries out the function during a high growth rate. The anaplerotic reaction shows a shift from phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase to malic enzyme and then to pyruvate carboxylase.

Benzoate degradation via the ortho pathway in Alcaligenes eutrophus Is perturbed by succinate
Article Abstract:
The benzoate degradation through the ortho pathway in Alcaligenes eutrophus perturbed by succinate was investigated to show that no diauxic pattern can be observed and that benzoate and succinate are simultaneously metabolized. Results indicate that A. eutrophus metabolizes benzoate and succinate simultaneously leading to an increased cell growth rate. This growth rate is directly proportional to the increased flux through the succinate dehygodrogenase.

Reductive cleavage of demeton-S-methyl by Corynebacterium glutamicum in cometabolism on more readily metabolizable substrates
Article Abstract:
Fructose can enhance the metabolism of demeton-S-methyl by Corynebacterium glutamicum. Demeton-S-methyl is an organophosphorus pesticide. Corynebacterium glutamicum is one of the few bacteria that can hydrolyze the P-S bond of organophosphorus pesticides.
