Hybridization between Tammar wallaby (Macropus eugenii) populations from Western and South Australia
Article Abstract:
The Western Australia and South Australia tammar wallaby (Macropus eugenii) populations have probably been isolated from each other for up to 100,000 years and have developed genetic and morphological differences. Attempts to mate individuals from the two populations show that hybridization is possible in captivity, but in wild populations successful reproduction is prevented in the initial stages of development.

Interspecific and extraspecific pregnancies in equids: anything goes
Article Abstract:
Equids are unusual in that they are able to interbreed freely to produce viable offspring, most of which are infertile. The ability of the horse, mule and donkey to give birth to xenogeneic extraspecific foals is of particular interest to scientists. Research into the endocrinological, developmental and immunological problems associated with the survival of interspecific or extraspecific fetuses is described.
