Investigation of persistent colonization by Pseudomonas aeruginosa-like strains in a spring water bottling plant
Article Abstract:
Computer-assisted whole-cell protein sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) was utilized to determine the origin and persistence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa-like strains. SDS-PAGE analysis of the bacterial strains isolated from a spring water bottling plant resulted in the formation of four clusters at the similarity level of 80%. Persistent colonization was caused by a single strain with two clonal origins that are 99.3% similar to Pseudomonas alcaligenes.

Exploitation of gene involved in 2,4-diacetylphloroglucinol biosynthesis to confer a new biocontrol capability to a Pseudomonas strain
Article Abstract:
The involvement of 2,4-diacetylphloroglucinol (Phl) in the capacity of Pseudomonas sp. strain F113to act as a biocontrol agent on sugar beet seeds in nonsterilized soil is studied. A Phl production-negative mutant was partially complemented by a recombinant plasmid containing this region. The ability of Pseudomonas strain in increasing the emergence of sugar beet seeds involving these genes was demonstrated.

Selection of a Pseudomonas cepacia strain constitutive for the degradation of trichloroethylene
Article Abstract:
A technique for the production of a nonrecombinant Pseudomonas cepacia strain capable of oxidizing Trichloroethylene is presented. This involves the cloning of three toluene oxygenases in Escherichia coli underalternate promoter control. One mutant strain was found to exhibit a completelystable constitutive degradative phenotype through 100 generations of nonselective growth.
