Isolation and characterization of mutations causing abnormal eversion of the vulva in Caenorhabditis elegans
Article Abstract:
Researchers screened for mutations that result in abnormal eversion of the vulva (evl mutations) to discover new genes in vulval development, and found that evl mutants are comparatively common after EMS mutagenesis. Vulval emersion is a process where a passage is made from the uterus through the vulva to the outside of the animal. It completes morphogenesis of the vulva in caenorhabditis elegans hermaphrodites.
