Isolation and regulation of Sinorhizobium meliloti 1021 loci induced by oxygen limitation
Article Abstract:
Only four out of eleven genetic loci in Sinorhizobium meliloti 1021 that are induced by low oxygen concentrations are dependent on the FixL/FixJ oxygen-sensing regulatory system. The bacterium must contain other regulatory systems for sensing oxygen limitation.

Identification of cold shock gene loci in Sinorhizobium meliloti by using a luxAB reporter transposon
Article Abstract:
The use of reporter transposon mutagenesis to identify cold shock genes in Sinorhizobium meliloti is discussed. At least three genes were identified and although they were induced by cold, there was no significant decrease in growth at 15 deg C.

Transcriptional organization and regulation of a polycistronic cold shock operon in Sinorhizobium meliloti RM1021 encoding homologs of the Escherichia coli major cold shock gene cspA and ribosomal protein gene rpsU
Article Abstract:
The properties and regulation of the eubacterial cold shock gene cspA in Sinorhizobium meliloti RM1021 are described. These genes are expressed in response to low temperatures.
