Microbial ecology of an extreme acidic environment, the Tinto River
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on microorganisms developing under extreme conditions in the presence of acidic pH. The authors discuss the in-depth characterization of the microbial diversity and composition of the Tinto River ecosystem carried out via the use of combination of molecular ecology and classical isolation methods.

Incidence and diversity of microorganisms within the walls of an active deep-sea sulfide chimney
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on microbial communities within mineralogical zones from deep-sea sulfide chimney. Results demonstrate that the diversity of microbial communities varies in different regions of this chimney, and that Crenarchaeota communities inhibit high-temperature regions of the chimney structure.
