Overview of the marine Roseobacter lineage
Article Abstract:
Molecular-based approaches targeting 16S rRNA genes demonstrate that the Roseobacter clade is one of the major marine groups, typically comprising upwards of 20% of coastal and 15% of mixed-layer ocean bacterioplankton communities. The physiology and ecology of cultured Roseobacter group members continue to be revealed however extrapolation of this information to uncultured relatives remains a central challenge.

Dynamics of bacterial and fungal communities on decaying salt marsh grass
Article Abstract:
The bacterial and fungal assemblages associated with two decomposition stages of Spartina alterniflora detritus in a productive southeastern US salt marsh are described. The molecular, culture and microscopy-based techniques are used simultaneously to examine the fungal and bacterial communities associated with Spartina alterniflora blades.

Autumnal biomass and potential productivity of salt marsh fungi from 29 deg to 43 deg north latitude along the United States Atlantic coast
Article Abstract:
Fungal material accumulates in decaying smooth cordgrass regardless of its geographic location. In a study of marshes from Florida to Maine, the size of the fungal crop was related to the C/N ratio, but not the C/P ratio.
