Physical fitness and body composition in relation to physical activity in prepubescent Senegalese children
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the relationship between body composition, physical activity, and physical fitness among Senegalese children 8.5-13.5 years of age. Anthropometric dimensions were collected in 140 children. Age and gender had a major effect on body composition and physical fitness. Results suggested that physical activity in these children is not an important indicator of cardiorespiratory fitness and motor fitness.

Article Abstract:
Tracking of physical fitness components, meaning stability of the characteristics over time, has been examined in a study of Israeli boys and girls from the second to sixth grades. The physical fitness tests included a 600-m run, a flying-start sprint, standing long jump, and medicine ball throw, as well as slalom dribbling of a basketball as a test of motor skill.
