Probing in vivo promoter activities in Mycoplasma pneumoniae: A system for generation of single-copy reporter constructs
Article Abstract:
The nucleotide sequences that control transcription initiation and regulation in Mycoplasma pneumoniae are not well understood and a lacZ-based reporter plasmid that can be used to integrate fusions of promoter fragments to promoterless lacZ gene into the chromosome of M. pneumoniae is developed. The study demonstrates that lacZ fusions can be a useful tool for the analysis of promoter fragments of M. pneumoniae genes in vivo.

Transcriptional and metabolic responses of Bacillus subtilis to the availability of organic acids: Transcription regulation is important but not sufficient to account for metabolic adaptation
Article Abstract:
The response of Bacillus subtilis to the presence of organic acids is studied. The results have indicated that in the presence of organic acids, acetyl-CoA is catabolized to acetate rather than used for feeding the Krebs cycle.

Expression of Mycoplasma proteins carrying an affinity tag in M. pneumoniae allows rapid purification and circumvents problems related to the aberrant genetic code
Article Abstract:
The isolation and purification of Mycoplasma and several other mollicute proteins which can be fused to an affinity tag and expressed directly in Mycoplasma pneumoniae are demonstrated.
