Reduced representation sequencing: A success in maize and a promise for other plant genomes
Article Abstract:
Two gene-enrichment approaches, methylation filtration (MF) and high C(sub o)t (HC) sequencing are tested in maize and their ability to sample the gene space is examined. Gene-enriched genome sequencing, combined with other genomic sequencing strategies, is a practical way to examine the maize gene pool, to order and orient the genic sequences on the genome and to enable investigation of gene content of other complex plant genomes.

Ups and downs of tissue and planar polarity in plants
Article Abstract:
Planar polarity is intensively studied in animals, where it often becomes obvious as a typical alignment of epidermal hairs along a major body axis. Many eukaryotic cell types display a polar organization and, in multicellular organisms, cells can polarize within a tissue or a plane of a specific tissue player.

The structure of photosystem I and evolution of photosynthesis
Article Abstract:
Photosystem I (PSI) generates the most negative redox potential in nature and thus largely determines the global amount of enthalpy in living systems. The latest structural determination of PSI complexes from cyanobacteria and plants overviews the evolutionary forces that shaped oxygenic photosynthesis.
