Genetic linkage map of the edible basidiomycete Pleurotus ostreatus
Article Abstract:
Researchers have created a genetic linkage map of Pleurotus ostreatus using random amplified polymorphic DNA, restriction fragment length polymorphism markers, several cloned genes, and phenotypic characteristics. The map includes 11 linkage groups, which agrees with the number of chromosomes.

Relationship between monokaryotic growth rate and mating type in the edible basidiomycete Pleurotus ostreatus
Article Abstract:
Researchers show that different mating loci in Pleurotus ostreatus are associated with differences in monokaryotic growth. These markers could be used to select fast-growing monokaryons which as dikaryons could colonize substrates faster than competitors.

Molecular karyotype of the white rot fungus Pleurotus ostreatus
Article Abstract:
A technique is described to separate chromosomes of the oyster mushroom Pleurotus ostreatus. This fungus is of commercial interest because it degrades wood and other lignin degradation products. It also produces metabolites of interest to the pharmaceutical industry.
