Role of soil pH in the development of enhanced biodegradation of fenamiphos
Article Abstract:
The effects of repeated applications of fenamiphos on the development and stability of enhanced degradation in different soils from Horticulture Research International (HRI), Wellesbourne, United Kingdom and the role of enhanced biodegradation in loss of efficacy of fenamiphos in two Australian soils are examined. Repeated treatment with fenamiphos resulted in enhanced biodegradation of this nematicide in two United Kingdom soils with a high pH.

A previously unexposed forest soil microbial community degrades high levels of the pollutant 2,4,6-trichlorophenol
Article Abstract:
The ability of a previously unexposed forest soil microbiota to degrade high levels of 2,4,6-TCP is reported and the changes in the soil microbial community found by terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism (T-RFLP) analysis is described. The T-RFLP analysis indicates that the soil bacterial community is essentially unchanged after exposure to up to 500 ppm of 2,4,6-TCP.

Links between plant and rhizoplane bacterial communities in grassland soils, characterized using molecular techniques
Article Abstract:
The hypothesis that plant species is a major driver for bacterial rhizoplane community composition on individual plant roots is tested. The interaction between plant species and the community composition of bacteria colonizing the rhizoplane in a grazed, upland Scottish grassland soil is assessed.
