Rottlerin inhibits chlamydial intracellular growth and blocks chlamydial acquisition of sphingolipids from host cells
Article Abstract:
Rottlerin, a plant-derived compound known to inhibit various mammalian kinases, has inhibited chlamydial growth in cell culture with a minimal inhibition concentration of 1 [micro]M. The studies have not only allowed identifying a novel antimicrobial activity for rottlerin but have also allowed uncovering a potential mechanism for rottlerin inhibition of chlamydial growth.

Factors affecting survival of bacteriophage on tomato leaf surfaces
Article Abstract:
The effect of ultraviolet rays of sunlight on phages kept on leaf surfaces at different times of the year is investigated. Phages are anti-microbial agents that help fight bacteria in plants and their persistence are affected by UV, while the other factors have less pronounced effects.

Considerations when using discriminant function analysis of antimicrobial resistance profiles to identify sources of fecal contamination of surface water in Michigan
Article Abstract:
A repeated cross-sectional study which was used to collect fecal and environmental samples from Michigan livestock, wild geese, and surface water for bacterial isolation, identification, and antimicrobial susceptibility to Escherichia coli infections is presented.
