SPR28, a sixth member of the septin gene family in Saccharomyces cerevisiae that is expressed specifically in sporulating cells
Article Abstract:
Sporulation of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae involves the activation of sporulation-specific genes at distinct times during the process. Microbiological and recombinant DNA methods reveal that SPR28, a gene encoding septins, is one of those genes. Protein fusion and two-hybrid analyses show that SPR28 encodes Spr28p, which are proteins found in developing prospore walls along the outer surface of the nuclear envelope during meiosis I. Aside from its role in cell wall synthesis, these proteins have no significant role in spore formation.

A novel filamentous Bacillus sp., strain NAF001, forming endospores and budding cells
Article Abstract:
A novel filamentous bacterium, Bacillus sp., strain NAF001, and its forming of endospores and budding cells are discussed. The strain was isolated from suspended water of a domestic wastewater treatment tank. It formed long filamentous trichome and produced endospores and formed heat-resistant spore-like resting cells.

Binding of glycoglycerolipid derived from membranes of Acholeplasma laidlawii PG8 and synthetic analogues to lymphoid cells
Article Abstract:
A glycoglycerolipid from Acholeplasma laidlawii can bind to human lymphoid cells. Synthetic versions of the lipid also bound to the MOLT-4 and HUT-78 human T cell lines, the Raji B cell line, the HL-60 monoblastoid cell line, and cultured human T cells.
