Saving bison, losing tigers: Wildlife conservation approaches to anthrax and poaching have divergent results
Article Abstract:
The game parks of India report some deaths of deer and elephants from anthrax, but suffer badly from an equally deadly disease of poaching. The reports reveal that the Bandhavgar tiger reserve in India had 44 tigers in 2005 and as per April 2006 survey only 28 were left due to poachers and a shortage of park guards to combat them and it is feared that by the time India gets around to beefing up its park security, there might be no tigers left.

Save the great apes!
Article Abstract:
The Spanish Parliament is planning to consider supporting the Great Apes Project, which would give the great apes certain human rights. This would mean that the wild-caught apes would have the right of repatriation to their countries of origin, while captive-bred apes could remain in zoos or reserves, as they would be able to have guardians to look after their interests in the same way as mentally incompetent humans.
