Structural organization of the RNA polymerase-promoter open complex
Article Abstract:
The RNA polymerase (RNAP)-promoter open complex and its structure and organization are discussed. Systematic site-specific protein-DNA photocrosslinking has been used to find out about interactions between bacterial RNAP and promoter DNA in the RNAP-promoter open complex that functions as a catalyst. More than 100 defined crosslinks between individual assessments of RNAP subunits and individual phosphates of promoter DNA have been mapped.

6S RNA regulates E. coli RNA polymerase activity
Article Abstract:
Escherichia coli RNA polymerase activity has been found to be regulated by 6s RNA. It has been shown that 6S RNA associates with RNA polymerase in a very specific and efficient way. 6S RNA represses expression from a sigma(super.70)-dependent promoter in the stationary phase.

Structure and mechanism of yeast RNA triphosphatase: an essential component of the mRNA capping apparatus
Article Abstract:
Yeast RNA triphosphatase, a vital part of the mRNA capping mechanism, is discussed. RNA triphosphatase catalyzes the first step in cap formation in yeast. Structure and mechanism of fungal RNA triphosphatases are entirely different from those of mammalian mRNA capping enzymes. RNA triphosphatase would be a good target for structure-based antifungal drug research.
