Symplekin and multiple other polyadenylation factors participate in 3'-end maturation of histone mRNAs
Article Abstract:
The identification of a heat-sensitive protein complex whose integrity is required for histone pre-mRNA cleavage during the s-phase of the cell cycle of the mammals is described. It is found that the symplekin is the essential heat-labile component, thus, a common molecular machinery contributes to the nuclear maturation of mRNAs both lacking and possesing poly (A), as well as to cytoplasmic poly (A) tail elongation.

HDAC6 controls major cell response pathways to cytotoxic accumulation of protein aggregates
Article Abstract:
A study to show that the histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) is involved in another crucial cell response to the accumulation of ubiquitinated protein aggregates, and unravel its molecular basis, is presented. Results show that the HDAC6 senses unbiquitinated cellular aggregates and consequently induces the expression of major cellular chaperones.

Red-Hed regulation: Recombinase Rad51, though capable of playing the leading role, may be relegated to supporting Dmc1 in budding meiosis
Article Abstract:
The discovery of a novel meiosis-specific protein, Hed1, which appears to inhibit Rad51 when Dmc1 is absent, is reported. Two-hybrid experiments show that Hed1 and Rad51 can interact directly and immuno-staining shows that subnuclear foci formed by Hed1 and Rad51 colocalize, implying that Hed1's influence on Rad51 activity is direct.
