Temporal stability and microgeographic homogeneity of heritability estimates in a natural bird population
Article Abstract:
Heritability estimates of morphological traits in a population are steady over a sufficiently long period of time and short distances. Studies on the collared flycatcher indicate that genetic parameters of different morphological characteristics are constant over a period of nine years. Differences in environmental conditions of birds in different habitats have no significant effect on heritability estimates. There is no difference in the heritability of tarsus length, though differences exist in the mean tarsus length of birds from different habitats.

Inheritance and linkage relationships of nine isozyme loci in wild radish
Article Abstract:
Nine isozyme loci in wild radish, Raphanus raphanistrum, show Mendelian segregation and lack of linkage. These loci have large number of alleles. The lack of linkage may be due to the location of these loci on nine different chromosomes or they may be loosely linked, which is undetectable in the small number of offsprings analysed. However, two of these loci, PGM2 and LAP, are linked in a related species, R.sativus. The linkage may be due to difference in arrangement between the two species. These markers can be used as genetic markers.

Parallel computing in interval mapping of quantitative trait loci
Article Abstract:
Issues are presented concerning the advantages of the use of a parallel computing algorithm which will result in significant time saving during the computation of permutation testing and quantitative trail loci mapping.
